How to Make a Face Mask
Many of the foods that you have in your kitchen can become the face mask. Not only will you nourish your skin with natural ingredients, you will save your money. And you don’t need to worry about your skin type.
1. Papaya Face Mask
Effects:
- Brighten and smooth the skin
- Remove age spots and skin damage from the sun
Suitable skin: All skin types
Ingredients: Inside of a papaya peel
Instructions: Remove seeds and pulp from a piece of ripe papaya. Apply the inside of the peel to lines around your mouth and eyes, crow's feet, thinning temples as well as the neck and hands after you've washed your face, then leave it to dry.After 15-20 minutes, rinse the face with lukewarm water. Apply the mask twice a week.
2. Lemon Juice and Plain Yogurt Face Mask
Effects:
- Lifts and tightens the skin
- Balances the skin tone
- Fade skin spots, age spots and acne scars
Suitable skin: Oil- and blemish-prone skin
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
Instructions:Yogurt and lemon juice are mixed and applied to a clean face and neck. After 20-30 minutes, the dried mask is washed first with lukewarm and then with cold water. For a better effect, it can be kept longerup to one hour depending on your own skin conditions. It can be applied 2-3 times per week.
3. Sour Cream, Honey, Apple Cider Vinegar Face Mask
Effects:
- Purify the pores
- Cleanse the skin
- Fade acne scars and blemishes
- Moisturize and brighten the skin
Suitable skin: Dry skin
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of sour cream
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- Instructions: The ingredients are mixed, applied to cleansed skin and left to act for 20 minutes. Thereafter, the dry mask should be washed first with warm and after with cold water. It can be used twice per week.
4. Chamomile or Green Tea Mask
Effects:
- Tone, relax and refresh the skin
- Removetraces of puffy face
Suitable skin: All skin types
Ingredients:
- A cup of chamomile or green tea
- Two makeup sponges
Instructions:
When you've washed your face, prepare a cup of chamomile or green tea. Then wait till the tea is cool to have two clean makeup sponges soak in it. Squeeze out the excess liquid and place the sponges on your eyes. Hold for 15 minutes. It may be applied on a daily basis.
5. Flax Face Mask
Effects:Provides nutrient substances to the skin.
Suitable skin: Dry skin
Ingredients:2 tablespoons of flax seeds and a bit of water
Instructions: Pour the flax seeds with a little water, enough to cover it. When the mixture becomes gelatinous, apply to the face. Dried mask washed off with lukewarm water.
6. Natural Clay Face Mask
Effects: Opens pores and removes dirt
Suitable skin: The entire surface of the face, except for the area around the eyes
Ingredients:oily skin
Instructions:Mix the clay with some water. Put on your face, but not in the eye area, and leave it to dry. Afterwards, rinse.
7. Oatmeal Face Mask
Effects:
- Cleanse the skin
- Provide moisture and smoothness
Suitable skin: all skin types, good for acne-prone skin
Ingredients:
- Water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons ofoatmeal
Instructions: Mix the ingredients in a food processor with enough water to make a paste. Thenapply the pastefor about 10 minutes after you’ve cleaned and dried your face. After that, rinse with cool water.
8. Other Homemade Face Masks

Blend the ½ of cucumber and 1 tablespoon of yogurt. Then apply the mixture on the face, rinse after 15 minutes. |
Origin juice and honey mask |
Blend ½ cup of warm honey and 3 tablespoons of orange juice without pulp. Apply on the face, rinse after 30 minutes first with warm and then with cold water and your skin will have a healthy glow. |
Egg yolk, honey and olive oil |
Mix 1 tablespoon of warm honey, 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Apply on the skin, rinse after 15 minutes with warm water. Use for dry skin. |
Vitamin C mask |
Blend 2 drops of orange essential oil, 2 tablespoons of raw honey and ½ of fresh, peeled, and mashed kiwi fruit and make the anti-aging mask. Leave the mixture on the face for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. |
Avocado and oatmeal scrub |
Blend 2 teaspoons of finely ground oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of avocado. Massage damp face in circular motion, and then rinse the mask with warm water. |
Banana and sugar scrub |
Make paste from 1 mashed and ripe banana, ¼ cup of granulated sugar and ¼ cup of dark brown sugar. Massage it on the skin and rinse after 15-20 minutes with warm water to nourish and exfoliate your skin. |
Salt, lemon and sugar scrub |
Blend 2 tablespoons of salt, juice from half of a lemon and a little of sugar until you make a solid mask. Massage the mask on your face to exfoliate and brighten your skin. After 2-3 minutes, rinse with water. |
