First, watch a video for 5 different ways to wear bangs, then read on for more options and detailed instructions to style the bangs you want:
How to Style Straight Bangs
Things Needed
- A Comb
- Straightener. Look for a straightener that is not too wide. This will minimize the risk of burning your forehead.
- Hairspray. Strength should depend on your bangs’ thickness.
Instructions
- Comb the bangs to detangle them and to make them flat.
- Split the fringe in three sections i.e. 2 small side-sections and 1 large section at the center. This is done because the sections are going to be curled in dissimilar directions.
- Take the straightener and set it to 170°C then starting from the roots on each section, straighten the hair away from your forehead.
- Start curving the straightener inwards about half way down the fringe.
- Do this for all sections except when you are curving the straightener. You can have the rounded look by curving towards the middle.
- You will notice that there are gaps in between each section. Take the comb and comb the hair to close the gaps.
- Style some hair pieces such that they frame the face. Take a hair section then curl it from your face; do the same for the other two sections.
- To finish, lightly spritz the hair using the hairspray.

How to Style Side-Swept Bangs
Side-swept bangs are known to define facial features and accent your cheekbones & eyes. They also work great with various hair textures and styles. Having this bang type will need extra attention and care if the front locks will remain in place and glossy throughout the day.
Things Needed
- Heat protectant
- Clean, dry towels
- Round brush
- Blow drier
- Flat iron
- Flexible-firm hold spray
- Smooth Mousse
Instructions
- Wash then towel-dry the hair. Let it sit for 15 minutes then apply some heat protectant (pea-sized) to your bangs. Work the hair while still damp.
- Take the side swept bangs separately then take a round brush and place it under the bangs (at the hair root). Turn your blow-drier on to medium setting then place it above the bangs.
- Via the underside, pull the round brush along with the hair in whichever direction you wish your hair to lay. It can even reach your cheek. Follow the brush with the blow-drier and ensure that tension is kept in your hair as the brush is being pulled sideways. Repeat this several times so that the hair is dried and the bangs styled in the correct direction.
- Take the flat iron and heat to high/medium setting. Start from root to the tip with the flat iron as you pull the hair in whichever direction you desire. If you want your bangs to have flipped or curl ends, rotate your flat iron 90° at the tips then slowly pull across those tips so that a soft wave is created. If you wish to have flat lying bangs, simply pull away the flat iron from your hair’s tips.
- Apply the flexible-firm hold spray to all the bangs sections so that the bangs will be kept in place. Alternatively, smooth pea-sized mousse on the entire hair so that the bangs will keep in place the whole day.

How to Style Parted Bangs
Things Needed
- Straightening balm
- Round brush
- Blow drier
- Flat iron
- Hairspray
Instructions
- Make sure that your bangs are dump and clean. Apply some straightening balm on top of the bangs to make them manageable and easy to manipulate.
- Divide the bangs in half by running your fingers through them. Push about ¾ to one side and the rest to the other.
- Take the round brush, place it next to the forehead and curl one section of the bangs towards it.
- Take the blow drier and blast the brush with the hair. As the hair dries, pull your brush through the bangs then curl inwards. Continue curling and brushing until all the hair is dry. Do the same for the remaining section of the bang.
- Take the flat iron and heat it until it’s hot. Take one section of the bangs then clamp it to the flat iron near the scalp then using a smooth motion, draw it down your hair. Do the same for the other bangs section.
- Take the hairspray and spray the bangs to hold them in place.
